Who we are:Brew is the UK’s only tea bar brand, offering a host of our own blended Loose Leaf Brews as well as some seriously innovative Signature Brews which are ready to take tea to a whole new audience in a whole new way!
Our tea bars, at St Paul’s Square and on Bold Street, are designed to showcase our tea and encourage our customers to do as they please, whether that be hosting business meetings, meeting friends, taking a shopping pit stop or coming in to use our Free Wifi.
In addition Brew is become established as the tea supplier of choice for lots of Liverpool’s restaurants, cafes and coffee shops, in addition to some national hotel chains.
What we do:
Brew is looking to reinvent the way people in the UK (particularly Liverpool!!) drink and perceive tea. We are upping the game when it comes to quality by using only super dooper quality loose leaf teas, loose herbs and chunky fruit pieces. The result is a cuppa that is loads better than the dusty teabags which everyone us used to!
In addition to the 35 blends of Loose Leaf Brews that you’ll find in our tea bars we have also created our own range of Signature Brews. These tea based drinks are geared towards today’s coffee shop inspired culture and offer a completely different tea experience for people who may not even think that they like tea!
Our Signature Brew range consists of both hot and cold drinks as follows:
• TEA Latte: your favourite Brews combined with sweetened steamed milk and natural flavours;
• sTEAmers: blends of our Loose Leaf Brews and hot fruit flavours, no milk!!
• fruiTEA : refreshing, shaken iced teas styled on cocktails with fresh fruits and flavours, no milk!!
• smooTEA: thick, sweet and refreshing ice blended drinks with our super healthy teas and natural flavours like chocolate, banana or toffee.
We also offers all of the extras you’d expect including panini, toasties and bloomers prepared freshly each day for lunch, a whole host of truly scrumptious, locally sourced cakes and new for the summer we’ve launched a range of pastries which we are baking freshly in the stores each morning!!
Hush hush on this one, but you know we do our own blend of coffee too? For those in the know it’s a fairly strong blend of arabica beans which we’ve created ourselves and roast every couple of weeks. Don’t tell anyone though okay?
Brew of course isn’t just a tea bar though, we have developed our own brand of Loose Leaf Brews to take home. These retail in both our stores and through a number of retailers in the North in addition to a load of funky tea ware which make perfect gifts (nudge nudge...!).
The final bit of Brew is our wholesale business. We started supplying our Brews to Liverpool food and drink venues in early 2009 and are expanding this area rapidly at present. We have a distributor on board and have set about serving our super brews through many outlets in the UK!
Who do we work with?
Within the Commercial District we work with as many businesses as we possibly can!! Brew played an active role in staging the Live! At St Paul’s event last summer and we’re currently working in partnership with a few other businesses to arrange some networking and social events in the Square.
We’re also working to bring the likes of Molton Brown and Clarins to the Commercial District by offering them space in our store to pamper our cusTEAmers!
Our Aim:
We want people to be drinking tea! It’s not the second most popular drink in the world (water, in case you wondered) for nothing you know! We’re also striving to make it funkier and sexier than coffee, after all you can do so much more with it and it’s miles healthier!
Why LCDP?
In short – because no one else would take us!! We approached a number of landlords when looking for our first outlet and to be honest our sales pitch wasn’t great; if it was Lonely Hearts ad it would have read something like “untried, untested, speculative tea business with no experience in tea or retail seeks prime location on major high street, no security offered”.
The Commercial District however did listen and gave us a shot. It would have been really easy to pick a national chain and give the locals an identikit office development but they picked Brew instead and gave us the prestigious location we needed (thanks guys!) to get going.
What we absolutely love about the Commercial District though is that we really get to know our customers. This allows us to take genuine and honest feedback and make changes, add products to suit what everyone expects of Brew. Brilliant!
Our History
Our owner, Phil Kirby, started Brew in 2008. Before this he qualified as an accountant with a big firm and worked in Corporate Finance. After being plied with too much coffee Phil thought it would be a great idea to set about the world’s biggest tea rebrand! No small task indeed. So far we’ve successfully navigated more potholes than you’d find on the average Liverpool road and are still going, long may it continue!!
Our Future:
Having recently agreed major contracts with National Museums Liverpool and Barcelo Hotels nationwide to supply our loose leaf tea into their venues we’re in the process of rapidly expanding our wholesale tea business.
People need amazing tea and so we’re aiming to bring the Brew Experience to them wherever they happen to be! We already supply many restaurants and coffee shops in and around Liverpool and would like to say thanks to them for all their support!! Thank you guys!!
On the tea bars front we’re always keeping a watchful eye out on the property market and would snap up a deal if we could get in front of lots of customers! (Note to potential landlords: tea is good and people like it!)
